what do i do what do i do?
Friday morning Oct 23 —
The House Democratic Caucus will meet and determine what version of the “public option” goes into the House bill.
As early as possible Friday morning, call the “leaning” Dems. You do not have to sound smart. You just have to sound like a voter. And stutter out “I vote, do public option.” And, if you want to sound a little more erudite? Tell them we needed single payer, we settled for public option, and if they blow public option too? Well screw them they are so out. But whatever you do and however you sound?

So, they ask for my zipcode, and I don’t think they care what people who don’t live in their district say, do they?
My phone bills will … eh … ruin me …
Well done! And indeed the “public option” was supposed to be the compromise between doing nothing and single-payer to appease the GOP from the get go… We need a public option (at the very least) badly already.
Well Till, your involvement is loverly but not being a citizen, you really are cut out of the loop. [I’m sorry.]
Pooks, I didn’t leave a zip code except for when I called Waxman. I just said I was a US citizen and a registered voter. Many of these people have larger responsibilities than merely catering to their zip codes and local constituents, they are on committees which are responsible for national policy issues, not just local, and in that capacity, they do answer to you and me regardless of whether or not they think to care about that fact. They can check call logs and see where calls are coming from, but they would also be wise to notice, if the whole country is staring at them? Not just their one little corner of it? Their own corner is bound to be waking up and eyeing them too.
Woe, exactly.
Okay. I made some calls and I was asked my zipcode, so they clearly were at least keeping track of their constituency. When it comes election time, they don’t get votes by pleasing people who can’t vote for them.
Well if they ignore calls from people outside their zip codes they are being a little short sighted. Maybe they didn’t watch Joe Wilson’s opponent’s campaign fund skyrocket in 24 hours? That wasn’t Wilson’s zip code in action, that was a nation in action. Add to this, as long as McCain doesn’t get his way and monopolize and corporatize the internet, information is not something controlled strictly by media outlets any more it moves no matter how hard politicians try to control or spin it. And it crosses both ways, not only out of, but also into zip code zones.
