What with mockingbird frenzy [and also a heightened reaction to sound] it occurred to me there are an awful lot of birds singing around here so then I was wondering why there are so many birds.
You know when you have one of those Aha moments when an answer is really really really REALLY obvious? I mean so obvious you should maybe get your head checked you did not know the answer before you asked the question?
Um. I put bread crusts outside for birds.
How do I not make these connections?

You crack me up, Max.
After that duck made that splash landing and then left, I threw some bread crumbs outside and the birds were flocking in from everywhere. All sorts. I don’t know how they find it so fast, it was a matter of minutes. But the duck didn’t come back. He’ll be back tomorrow probably.
That is funny.
I always think, Oh the birds will like this bread crust or pizza crust or whatever new bread device is around and old and put it outside for them it never occurs to me more birds will come because that is out there but this is a lot of birds there must be new bird visitors.
I think the birds heard that every time you open the shutters your hair color changes. They are waiting for the next incarnation of Max ( oh and the free feed doesn’t hurt.)
