the christmas chair

I talked myself into getting a new office chair tonight. I love my office chair, but it’s 15 years old, has had the casters replaced more times than I remember, and I’ve rebuilt the seat at least three times, maybe four. I could redo the seat again, which right now is taped together because it was giving out again. But that’s downtime off the computer working on the chair and I’m tired and I just… thought maybe it’s time to get a new chair. That maybe has a hydraulic lift that still works. And doesn’t wobble because it has lost screws from the bottom (I think that’s why it wobbles). And is soft to sit on.

(Right now I’m sitting on a pillow on my chair because the seat is pretty far gone and it’s starting to hurt my back — and butt — after I sit on it too long. Oh nos!)

(And then later if I still want to fix this chair I can do it at my leisure instead of in a rush because as long as it’s down, I don’t have a work chair.)

The new chair sold me when I read a bunch of reviews that all said, “The most comfortable office chair I’ve ever sat in in my life.”

Holy cats! Take my monies!

This is the chair I ordered, btw. It’s not as pretty as my chair, but it also isn’t 15 years old coming apart and also it looks really comfortable. Pretty much no one makes a chair as pretty as my current chair. Not even the people I bought it from in the first place who discontinued the model. Bastards!

The new chair is supposed to arrive December 24. I’m skeptical. I think probably it will be late. But I am calling it the Christmas Chair. It is sort of a Christmas gift to myself. Cross fingers.
