a memory : part i
He always showered before seeing a girl he wanted to impress.
She remembered that.
She had told him once —
She thought men right after working out were sexy.
He remembered that.
He arrived one day unshowered straight from the gym.
She thought he did not want to impress her.
He thought she would find it sexy.

Gift of the Magi Max-i. Funny how art imitates life imitates art.
Loved this little poem. It speaks to me.
It’s amazing how people do not take the time to listen to each other – as in LETTING IT REGISTER.
My brother says he’s always impressed with somoene who buys him the gift he really desired. As in – they listened to what he was saying earlier in the year – rather than going out thoughtlessly and aiming for the most convenient and cliche-ish thing in sight.
I was just pondering this a few mins ago, Max, when I pulled a bottle of water out of the fridge and a pile of sushi fell on the floor. I thought to myself, Why doesn’t Uncle K listen? I expressed my desire for a huge hunk of protein and he brings carbs to the airport. Sure, it’s the thought that counts but it’s these little signs that are very telling – and they tell me that we could never get along as man and wife.
PS Men with subtle armpit odor are so sexy!
Oh, the wonders of male/female communication…
Beautifully expressed.
I’m with you, Stil. A subtle, fresh odour…
Nice picture, what were saying… I am only kidding. My ex and I went to therapy… they handed us a piece of carpet and said, You have the floor.
Then the other person had to give you a statement of comprehension with out repeating you verbatum….. NOT ONE time did my ex ever comprehend what I had said….even if it was a nice loving statement….. I think he listened to the first couple of words and started to prepare his defense……
I am not sure about the men with armpit odor thing…
