Wow. Merc Rx is unhinged. In the last week, I have had a street cleaner try to run me down in a cross walk [I am not kidding, strangers were asking me if I got a look at the driver, I was like, Are you kidding? From under the brushes?] a port-o-let-cleaner-outer truck try to run me down in another cross walk [I keep wondering which death would have been more ignoble, the street cleaner or the port-o-let-cleaner-outer and personally I am thinking the port-o-let-cleaner-outer how would that look in Daily Variety and before anyone makes any comments yes, my light was green, fresh], one bank deposit go missing [I mean missing, too, and that was a big check dammit], database and mail delivery error messages are stacking faster than stolen votes AND -- Monday night, which is offical Perv on Richard Dean Anderson Reruns Night at Castle Max -- CABLE CUT OUT DURING ONE OF THE FUNNEST EVER EPISODES OF STARGATE ONE. Ahhhhh! Listen. This is so wrong. Merc does not go Rx till November 30 and is not even supposed to start acting up till Novenber 21st and frankly Merc is off base here going out before even the freaking 15th? What the hell? It is not stopping either. Tonight a Land Rover tried to take me out in ANOTHER CROSSWALK. [Some shrimp Land Rover does not scare me, though, I have survived street cleaners and port-o-let-cleaner-outers, sheesh.] But then. On the way home? A southbound car went off the Cahuenga|Odin overpass -- head on into northbound cars on the Cahuenga feeder. Ensuing mayhem had traffic backed up Cahuenga and Franklin all the way to Hollywood. I barely made it west on Hollywood [swerving into oncoming lanes at red lights to get through] before those drivers who park in intersections under the assumption cars in front of them will move before the light changes? Closed down all routes east and west on Hollywood too. I keep remembering last year though. This time last year, I was on a train north for a real important appointment. When the train hit a pedestrian. And every train, north and south, shut down. For hours. I was trapped [and do not even think they let you off in those circumstances for cig brooding for some reason all emergencies on public transport are non-cig-brooding events] thinking, Oh fuck me, just how much trouble do I get in now? Dialing numbers on the cell making this change and that change and praying to hell we could keep the appointment that day just at some indefinite time because Christ I did not want to take a train back up later or a train back down that day and? All the time the thing I kept thinking was, Okay, Max? You are going to be late for one appointment. One very important appointment. Okay. But? The man the train hit is going to be late forever. Think nice thoughts tonight for the poor bastard who went over a Cahuenga overpass. Think nice thoughts for the people he hit head on.
